چکیده
Abstract Progressive climate-driven environmental changes are threatening the global livelihoods of small-scale fishers, yet how their adaptation responses vary in relation to hazard exposure is poorly understood. We use a systematic review approach identify data set 301 reported (remaining, adaptive, and transformative) fishers climate change analyse spatial agreement with estimated geographical location coastal hotspot areas for specific hazards associated those (long-term trends sea surface temperature, cumulative intensity marine heatwaves, frequency tropical storms, storm surges). Only 37% were found hotspots. Despite this, our results evidence that responding more passively lower levels abrupt climatic events. The relative proportion adaptive transformative increase exposure.

Uneven adaptive capacity among fishers in a sea of change
Fishers worldwide operate in an environment of uncertainty and constant change. Their ability to manage risk associated with such uncertainty and subsequently adapt to change is largely a function of individual circumstances, including their access to different fisheries. However, explicit attention to the heterogeneity of fishers' connections to fisheries at the level of the individual has bee...
متن کاملSocial vulnerability of small scale coastal fisher's livelihood to climate change
Fisheries support livelihood of over half a billion of people globally. Many of these people live in coastal regions of developing countries; and have limited capacity to adapt and build resilience in the face of climate change. This research assesses the biophysical and socioeconomic characteristics of fishers in four coastal communities, Komenda, Elmina, Cape coast and Morree, in Ghana. Stru...

Farmers frequently cope with risks due to the uncertainty of climatic conditions. Population growth, changes in agricultural policies, environmental regulations and the degradation of natural resources such as soil and water also present farmers with numerous challenges. Although farmers have experience in coping with a certain degree of uncertainty, increased climate variability and changes ma...
متن کاملLow Discounting Behavior among Small-Scale Fishers in Fiji and Sabah, Malaysia
Understanding the socio-economic factors that are associated with fishers‘ willingness to delay gratification may be useful for designing appropriate fisheries management and conservation policies. We aim to identify the predictors of low discounting behaviour among fishers, which is analogous to having a longer-term outlook. We base our empirical study on two small-scale tropical reef fisherie...
